Peace be still

I love to watch the ships gracefully sailing
on a warm sunny day.
The water sparkling as the sun seems to light up
 the water like diamonds and the ships seemingly
at the mercy of whatever the weather pattern is at the moment.
 The shifting weather patterns would cause these
"sailors" to adjust their sails to the right then to the left.
Sometimes I would even see the sailboats clustered all together
in a area were the conditions are just right, where they can sail the sea with
 ease and catch the wind in their sails and go off
to their desired destination.
How vulnerable that little sailboat looks in strong winds,
 tossing about without any control.
The small and gentle sailboat seems to have no chance
 in mercilessness of a powerful storm.

Peace be still

O LORD God of hosts, who is like You, O mighty LORD?
Your faithfulness also surrounds You.
You rule the swelling of the sea;
When its waves rise,  You still them.~ Psalm 89:8-9

The only one who can calm the storm, settle the waters and guide us safely to our desired destination.

  Some went out on the sea in ships;
    they were merchants on the mighty waters.
 They saw the works of the Lord,
    his wonderful deeds in the deep.
 For he spoke and stirred up a tempest
    that lifted high the waves.
 They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths;
    in their peril their courage melted away.
 They reeled and staggered like drunkards;
    they were at their wits’ end.
 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
    and he brought them out of their distress.
 He stilled the storm to a whisper;
    the waves of the sea were hushed.
 They were glad when it grew calm,
    and he guided them to their desired haven.
 Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
    and his wonderful deeds for mankind.
