Folk art display and sale

The art of life is to live in the present moment, and to make that moment as perfect as we can by the realization that we are the instruments and expression of God Himself.

Emmet Fox

The pieces in red will be displayed at the First Friday Exhibit at the Vancouver Community Library May 4th-7th and will be up for sale after the 8th  of May.

I'm an American self taught folk artist and an embroider living in the Northwest.  I have been an artist for over 20 years working mostly in oils and embroidery.  Art has always been a means of expression to me, it is my way of communicating a visual story in a way that all can hear from every age group. Art can even bypasses any language barrier.

30 percent of all proceeds goes to help with clean water, hunger, child trafficking and the protection of children with the charity World Vision.

You are not alone

"A Guardian Angel walks with us sent from above, their loving wings surround us and enfold us with love."
~Anonymous

I have been quietly working on some artwork for a gallery showing on an upper floor above a library in our area. I needed about 5 paintings, and 1 or 2 embroideries, framed. I have been concentrating on my work mostly and feeling as though the world is passing me by.

At most of my art events, so far I have been able to find sponsors for kids in need (World Vision ), but the last event fell through.  I can still see the little boy's face from Cambodia.  His bright smile on his picture folder and the lady that was so happy to sponsor him.

I am not too sure what happened, but there has been a lot of closed doors for me this year, that is for sure. People moving away, jobs ending, and days in the wilderness.

I am learning a lot about trust and waiting on God. Not striving, just being myself and who God created me to be.

You are not alone/ oil on canvas 12" by 12"

I had this dream last night,

I was doing some artwork and everything I was painting sold right away, and I had some interest in my work.  I also had a jar of pumpkin seeds from my last years garden, and I was giving away a few of them.  They were the Cinderella pumpkins that took over my tiny backyard last year.
(I really did save the seeds from that harvest)

Then I saw a large canvas of a painting that had faces of children from many nations that filled the entire painting, and then another painting appeared and it was Jesus holding a child's hand.

Then I heard...

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

Matthew 19:14

Reckless love  by

Cory Asbury

You have searched me, Lord,
    and you know me.
 You know when I sit and when I rise;
    you perceive my thoughts from afar.

You discern my going out and my lying down;

    you are familiar with all my ways.
 Before a word is on my tongue
    you, Lord, know it completely.
 You hem me in behind and before,
    and you lay your hand upon me.
 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
    too lofty for me to attain.
 Where can I go from your Spirit?
    Where can I flee from your presence?

If I go up to the heavens, you are there;

    if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

If I rise on the wings of the dawn,

    if I settle on the far side of the sea,
 even there your hand will guide me,
    your right hand will hold me fast.
 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
    and the light become night around me,”
 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
    the night will shine like the day,
    for darkness is as light to you.

 For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.
 My frame was not hidden from you
    when I was made in the secret place,
    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book
    before one of them came to be.
 How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
    How vast is the sum of them!
 Were I to count them,
    they would outnumber the grains of sand
    when I awake, I am still with you.
Psalm 139; 1-18
